Trauma Therapy & EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a therapy model that is different from talk therapy. During EMDR sessions, eye movements are utilized to stimulate different parts of the brain. When we experience something that is too overwhelming for our bodies to process, like trauma, EMDR can help to reprocess that experience so that it is less triggering or “charged.” EMDR is utilized for trauma and PTSD, but is also effective in treating depression, anxiety, poor self-esteem, performance anxiety, and much more. EMDR is an innovative treatment that has been researched and recognized by The American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association, Department of Defense, Veteran’s Administration, and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies as the gold standard for trauma treatment.
